Washer Lady

CASE SUMMARY

Washer Lady is a victim and soundboard who was prank called by Resistor Radio with Peter (Respected Gentleman’s neighbour). She is known for causing surprisingly intense frustration in her calls, due to her apparent refusal to accept or understand that the victim was not the one who repaired her washing machine. Victims are usually reluctant to hang up on her, as at first glance she seems to just be a confused old lady.

ORIGINS AND HISTORY

Washer Lady was called for the first and only time by Kiwi prankster Resistor Radio, who used the Peter soundboard. Washer Lady appears to be confused by Peter’s numerous quick-fire questions, and in an attempt to make sense of the situation erroneously identifies him as the person who fixed her (now broken) washing machine.

Not much is known about her other than what can be gleaned from the original call. Kimble attempted to identify her on his 24 Hour Stream in 2023, using numbers provided by Resistor Radio, but the task was to no avail. She appears to own some kind of business (“I have a holiday house, not a motel”) and may be an older lady.

It’s possible that the repairman she used may have been called Peter, as after identifying himself as such, Washer Lady pops the all-important question (“Are you the one who did the washing machine for me?”). It’s also possible Washer Lady was already expecting a call back from the repairman. Washer Lady paid NZ$280 for the job, and obtained a ‘guarantee’ on the work.

The actual problem with her washing machine isn’t entirely clear, as her only complaints are “I have to keep emptying it” and “The water keeps coming into it”, both ‘issues’ that one would expect in the day-to-day running of a washing machine.

PERSONAL LIFE

“Must be a bit queer.”

Washer Lady lives in New Zealand and owns a ‘holiday house’, possibly some kind of guest house business. She sounds older, around retirement age.
